Trench Warfare
In the trench warfare over 2.5 million people died.
After the invention of the machine gun warfare changed dramatically.
Soliders were forced to dig trenches for cover because of the threat of machine gun fire.
The trenches were over 400 miles long from Switzerland to the North Sea,
Cigarretes were called Coffin Nails. A sniper would see the light, take aim at the first puff and shoot on the second.
Trench Foot
This is trench foot it happened to people when they were in the trenches they were always flooded so eventually after few months of staying in the water your feet would start rotting.
Gas
Poison gas was probably the most feared of all weapons in World War one Poison gas was
indiscriminate and could be used on trenches even when no attack was going on. Whereas the machine gun soldiers overall during the war death was frequently instant or not drawn out and soldiers could find some shelter in bomb/shell craters from gunfire. A poison gas attack meant soldiers having to put on crude gas masks and if these were unsuccessful, an attack could leave a victim in agony for days and weeks before he finally succumbed to his injuries.
